The
Location
The house sits in a commanding hillside position, at the edge of the
rural hamlet of Pozzuolo. In a peaceful but accessible location on the
border of Umbria and Tuscany, you are within easy reach of some of the
Italy’s most exciting cities and cultural
attractions.
A great base for touring, it is just 20 minutes from Cortona - the
town immortalised by Francis Mayes in ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’
- and 20 minutes from the famous wine producing centre of Montepulciano.
Six kilometres from the house is the picturesque walled town of Castiglione
del Lago, overlooking Italy’s largest peninsular lake –
Lago Trasimeno.
Countless other enchanting towns and villages
dot the surrounding hilltops and countryside.
Pozzuolo has good facilities including a pizzeria and restaurant, bars,
supermarkets, bakery, post office and bank with ATM.
Getting Around
A 15-minute drive gets you to the autostrada and from there it is just
60 minutes to Florence or 90 minutes to Rome. An efficient rail network
gives you the flexibility to travel by train if preferred. Or if you’re
more interested in exploring closer to home a number of bicycles are
available at the house at no extra charge.
